| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review This attractive three-CD compilation does exactly what it claims to do--that is, contain more than three hours of relaxing music. Surprisingly, it also includes a few left-field gems in with the usual suspects, thus in addition to Grieg's "Morning" from the Peer Gynt Suite No.1 (smoothly played by the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra) and "Vocalise" by Rachmaninov (USSR Symphony Orchestra) there are also performances of the much less well-known "La Calinda" from Delius' opera Koanga (Northern Symphonia of England) and Five Variants of "Dives and Lazarus" by Vaughan Williams (Philharmonia Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin). Apart from a few questionable choices (the New Company's wobbly version of Tallis' 40-part motet "Spem in alium") the performances are all fine, and some excellent. The historical range stretches from the renaissance to the present day, and the juxtapositions are generally handled with imagination and sensitivity. Well worth anyone's money. --Warwick Thompson

| Customer Reviews: The Title Says it All November 16, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ever since i was introduced to Classical music by my father at home and in music class at school i have appreciated the classics ability to soothe the mind, to be able to sink back and allow the mind to be massaged through the ears so as to be able to forget much of what troubles us, and Radio FM have again provided me with a beautiful continuity of music on these CDs to do just that. Gone is the need to turn the LP and for most of us we have the ability to place all the CDs in to a system and listen for hours on end, and with this set gone also is the need to skip tracks, each seems to flow naturally from the previous and merge nicely into the next, while the composers can take pride in their music, Radio FM can be proud of their management of all these pieces together. Very enjoyable!
Just what I have been looking for January 18, 2001 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I asked for this CD for Christmas and didn't get it and so bought it myself. I didn't expect to get 3 cds and it has been wonderful to have so much peaceful music to listen to when I get up in the morning, when I get in from work, late at night, doing the house work - it's just on all the time. I think my favourite is disc 3, just love the theme from Schindlers list and the swan music. Saving up to get the first one as well. Don't currently listen to Classic FM, but will start to from now on.

I only started listening to classic FM about a month ago, therefore I do not know much about classical music. However, this CD is a great introduction for a novice like myself. It is like a greatest hits of all the music that I've heard on classic FM, but did not know the name of the composer or the music. I bought it without knowing exactly what was on the CD and I wasn't disappointed as it has 3 CD's with over 3 hours of music. I would recommend it to anyone who regularly listens to the stations midnight classics programme.
It does just what it says on the box November 11, 2000 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This new triple CD from Classic FM follows on from the "Relax" CD which they brought out last year. I was really excited when I heard them talking about it on the radio and I just had to have a copy. I wasn't disappointed! There is an excellent mixture of really popular classics along with one or two tracks that are less well known, such as Arvo Part's Spiegl im Spiegl - a particular favourite of mine. The best thing of all about this album is that it is 100% pure self indulgent relaxation. It will be a great way of countering the stresses and strains of Christmas in my household!
It certainly achieves its aim! November 9, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've heard tracks from this CD on Classic FM - and they've never failed to have the desired effect. Just ordered it as a Christmas gift for my partner and I'm convinced his stress levels will lower when he plays it while travelling.
