A great book August 19, 2007 Continuing straight from Stand by, stand by, Chris Ryan digs right in from the moment you open the book. Starting off with great suspense, Ryan quickly moves onto the action with a mission to assassinate a man who has caused Sharp nothing but pain. With attachable characters and a great story, this book was never going to get less then five stars. Keep it up Ryan!!!
Chris Ryan - "Zero Option" March 20, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
'Zero Option' is a fantastic read. At the start, (like in all of Chris Ryan's books), it grips the reader, and keeps this hold throughout the whole novel. The text is imformative, with correct facts and figures. The missions in the book slowly sink out, keeping the reader on the edge of his/her chair, tearing through the pages to read more. Use of good description helps to portray Geordie Sharp's feelings and emotions, adding good character to the story. Writing the novel in first person as Geordie really freshens the book.
All in all a very good book. I would reccomend this and other books by Chris Ryan to anyone in the need of a good novel.
I hope this review helped.
Unbelievable storyline, but entertaining enough August 4, 2006 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you can suspend your disbelief, and honestly convince yourself that the powers that be would sanction the mission detailed in the book, becomes an enjoyable enough story. There are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing, but when all's said and done, it's easy enough to guess the ending (which I won't give away).
Ryan doesn't have the same easy storytelling capability as MacNab, but he is a much better writer. That said, there are still some very obvious moments of "thesaurus intervention"...
4/5
Zero Option August 27, 2004 11 out of 16 found this review helpful
I read Chris Ryans previous book "Stand By Stand By" (Which I found whilst in hospital) and thought it was brillant, I was instantly hooked, so I decided to buy this book, my thoughts are not to buy this book until you have read the book previous as the storys are one. But secondly I feel this is not the best of his books, some parts seem very slow and dragged out, the storyline is not as convincing as his previous, but all in all it falls into place and is quite a good book and a must of have for SAS/Chris Ryan fans.
Mindblowing November 27, 2003 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
This is the first Chris Ryan novel I a have read and I'm now hooked. The authors unique writing style is chilling, funny, violent and moving, whilst giving a realistic feel to a story thats so action packed and beautifully written. It gives a gripping insight into the life of an SAS soldier whose life has taken a turn for the worse. When Geordie Sharp arrives home and realises his family have been kidnapped, he desperately tries to find a way to beat the seemingly untouchable enemy. Many other events unfold but I wouldn't want to give too much away. Its obvious that Chris Ryan has had simular experiences to that of the main character, as the description of such small things make it feel almost biographical. The sense of realism this book gives is like nothing i've read before. I would recommend Zero Option to anyone who enjoys this type of story and its a must have for any Chris Ryan fan. Brilliant!
