This is probably the best way I can describe this CD. Although realtively new to Noirin's work, having come across her only by chance, I am truly captivated by the purity and sheer beauty of her voice. Noirin often sings songs of a religious nature, and indeed one or two of the songs on this CD fall into that category, but don't be put off if that's not really your cup of tea. The theme of this CD is 'Mystical Songs in the Ancient Irish Sean-Nos Tradition', and every one is superb - each conjouring up a different landscape of Ireland, with an overwhelming sense of history, myth and magic. Noirin's talents don't stop with her hauntingly lovely voice, either - she also plays the feadog (tin whistle) and the Indian harmonia, accompanied by Micheal O Suilleabhain, a familiar name in Irish music, and the Benedictine Monks of Glenstal Abbey on two of the tracks - awesome company indeed! I would highly recommend this CD, so buy it and be transported to tranquility!
