Pema writes with such insight and compassion that you can feel the warmth from her seeping through every page. Inspiring reading and this book certainly made me look at myself in a completely new light. This is a book that once you have read, you can keep dipping into when things get tough.

But even if I did, there's still a chance i'm not conciously aware of it.....whatever it may be. Pema Chodron has an easy to read style that helped a lot since I hate reading. If you're interested enough about the book to read the reviews then you'll already have an idea what it contains. No secret message, but common sense mostly. Sometime we need something to gently remind us of who we really are, and this book is a good start. Not just for budding Buddhists, but everyone that may feel 'wanting' or 'wary' in some way.

This book is very helpful when you have to deal with fear. It shows a way how to accept your fears, how not to harden against the challanges in your life and not to get overwhelmed by them. It is cowardice what makes you build up an armour, but courage allows you to stay vulnerable. Pema Chodron does not only advocate this philosophy but offers practical tools how to put it into practice.
