 Good for basics March 8, 2010

I bought this cd for a holiday to Spain. It's very easy to listen to and understand, even my 5year old has picked up some basic vocab. It is especially good if your staying in a hotel, and ordering drinks or wanting directions. However this cd does not give you any names of fruits, veg, meat if you wanted to go grocery shopping or to a market, not ideal if your self catering.
This cd covers introductions, directions, ordering drinks in a bar/cafe, finding a room and seeking medical attention. It is a good basic language course, which will get you by for a holiday. We found most people spoke English well, but it was nice to be able to greet and thank people in Spanish.
There is a 2nd audio course to follow this one, which may expand on the vocab learned in this one.

I own these CDs along with the Smart Spanish series, and Practice Makes Perfect, and I found that the combination was a good one: Easy Learning Spanish (Collins Easy Learning Audio Course) makes you master useful basic sentences, while Practice Makes Perfect: Complete Spanish Grammar (Practice Makes Perfect Series) teaches you by writing and SmartSpanish - Introduction to Spanish, Vol.1 adds great tips on pronunciation to their efficient explanations of the structure of the language. All three are awesome together.

This audio cd is extremely well structured, very easy to follow and very intuitive. It has transformed my 45 minute commute from a pain in the rear jacksi to something I look forward to. It has only taken me 2 weeks to master each CD, there are 3 in total. So I had mastered all CD's within 6 weeks. I feel much more confident now. The revision sections at the end of the CD are a critical part of the revision process. I would recommend this CD to anybody, much cheaper than the Rosetta Stone versions.
