Going to France later in the year and wanted something to remind me of my GCSE level french from 20 years ago! It is perfect for the job. This might move a bit quickly for an absolute beginner but it is easy to skip back and relisten to a section. Lots of opportunity to practice what you're learning and also plenty of chances to hear the phrases in context, spoken by French people.

I own these CDs along with the Smart French series, and Practice Makes Perfect, and I found that the combination was a good one: Easy Learning French (Collins Easy Learning Audio Course) makes you master useful basic sentences, while Practice Makes Perfect: Complete French Grammar (Practice Makes Perfect Series) teaches you by writing and SmartFrench - Introduction to French, Vol.1 adds great tips on pronunciation to their efficient explanations of the structure of the language. Collins and Smart French are downloadable onto your ipods and mp3 players. All three are awesome together.
