Cult classic to be. December 8, 2008 D. Cletheroe (Manchester, England.) In a lifetime of novels it takes something spectacular to really blow your mind, make you think, make you laugh, scare you, and challenge you. This novel does all that. The basic story is fantastic, a great adventure with themes of lost love. However, what really sets this apart is the way it is written, the actual structure of the novel itself. It is designed to work on so many levels, without forcing you to think a certain way. Essentially, the reader brings what they want to the story and it reflects their personality, which alters what they get out of it (not a coincidence that the title is a pun on Rorshach Tests). Trying to do this novel justice by describing it is not going to happen, you can only read for yourself. In short, the best book I have ever read.
Beguiling, original and highly readable! December 4, 2008 Mr. M. J. A. Parsons This book has a central idea (or two) that is so stunningly original I cant believe it hasnt been done before. The book is very easy to read, and superbly written. It is incredible to think that this is a first time author. My only criticism would be that the ending is somewhat weak, but it does not detract too much from the book as a whole. A definite must-read.
Wonderful. September 8, 2008 Rinoa Cameron (Rushden, Northamptonshire United Kingdom) This book really wasn't what I expected, but it had me hooked straight away, and sucked me right in. Very original, witty, and sad, and moving. I don't want to risk spoilers, so I'll just say this is a must read (and I'm a big fan of Ian the cat).
Two times around May 26, 2008 Joyce Elizabeth Grosswiler (DK) I'm reading this book the second time around (first the original, and now the danish translation) -- and wow! You really should read this book at least 2 times. It is a totally entaining and thought provoking book. Madness looms, it shows you what the mind is capable of creating, it shows you what profound sorrow is. And best of all, it is interspersed with an endearing humor. What an accomplishment!
2.5 March 19, 2008 A. P. Beattie (London) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Too much hyperbole took the teeth out of this original idea. Couple of interesting 'visual' word experiments but clunky dynamic between the love interest mars. Good promise, unjustified pre-hype equal's 2.5 on my ( clearly ) highly subjective ratings system.
