To be honest this is a little gem of a book as it's a collection of short stories by established names and whilst some of the authors writing style isn't too well suited to the short story you have enough variety and choice to get a thoroughly enjoyable book. Its also a cracking way to try authors without having to spend out serious money on each individually. Its something I wish more publishers did to help promote authors. A definite purchase and something that if you love the current trend in medieval crime novels is something that won't disappoint.

I enjoy the books of several of the authors and have also read the group's previous three books. I like the variety, although some of the authors' styles cannot be re-created so well in short stories. This book has a very surprising last chapter by C.J. Sansom. Although I always prefer the medieval stories to the modern ones, I found this to have an interesting storyline with unexpected twists.
