Complete waste of time, effort and money November 12, 2008 Shona Munro (Hong Kong) As a prolific reader of just about anything I bought this book on the strength of the authors past work and I certainly wish I'd saved my money. I reckon it took him as long to write it as it did for me to read it. It reads more like a rejected (or perhaps wannabe) screenply for a movie that will go straight to DVD. Save your money for something better.
This is the worst book I have ever read! September 30, 2008 Bellegarde (Oslo, Norway) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I think this is the worst book I've ever read! I bought it at the airport and I finished reading the 300 pages in a four hours' flight. Nothing moved me in this book. It's a book full of cliches. After finishing the whole book, you won't know if the heroin is fat or thin, bright or just extremely stupid, because James Patterson doesn't know how to create real and interesting people. She is supposed to be extremely successful, but at the same time she is supposed to have no self-esteem. She is extremely beautiful, but nobody seems to notice. She thinks she is fat, but she likes to dress in very tight dresses, and she looks fantastic in them. If you like to read about a stupid young girl who can go into Tiffany's and spend about 50.000 dollars on a diamante ring without even thinking about it, just after she left her job for good, this is just the book for you. If however, you like to read intelligent books, avoid this one!
Different September 22, 2008 Lauren262 (Liverpool, UK) Does this man know how to write every genre of books. I really enjoyed this romance..I think thats what you would call Sunday at Tiffanys. The characters were so lovable.. or you'd hate them in the case of Hugh. Not as fantastic as his Cross series or Women's Murder Mystery, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly.
Not an edge of your seat Patterson novel... July 21, 2008 DannyRose (London, England.) but I still enjoyed it. Okay, so it is a bit twee and girly, but I'm a girl so I'm allowed to emerse myself in sentimental stories every now and again. This story has all the right works for a B movie - 'lonely eight year old girl's best friend is Michael, her invisable/imaginary adult friend, who she continues to carry a torch for into her adult life...Think of this story as a romantic version of Drop Dead Fred and that pretty much sums it up.
Not his normal "can't put it down" book July 3, 2008 Book worm (uk) Well this book was an okay read, and I did enjoy it, but I must say it's not his best. I did wonder if the co-author had more of a hand in it than Patterson himself, as I don't feel it came up to his usual standard of writing. It left lots of questions unanswered and didn't really grip me. Having said all that it's still worth a read, but I would probably wait for it on paperback rather than go to the expense of buying it in hard back.
