Must read December 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Another great book from Cecelia Ahern. It will make you laugh and cry. A definate must-read!
magical and heart warming!! December 1, 2008 I sat and read this book all in one go on a 6 hour flight home, despite needing sleep! Its brilliant, magical and heart warming. I loved P.S I love you and Rainbows end, the others after that i didn't like, in fact gave up reading! (didn't even buy Thanks for the memories!) But The Gift is truly, truly lovely. There is a very powerful message at the end which i wont reveal but if you want a book to make you think, cry and become addicted too - this is for you!! Absolute brilliance, words twisted together to warm the heart.
Couldn't put down - as usual! November 30, 2008 I love Cecelia Ahern's writing - donlt think she's written a book yet where i haven't had a few teary moments at some point. Loved that fact that this was a hard back and so beautifully packaged with the real red bow around it - I almost didn't was to open it but i was glad i did. Cecelia normally writes about a main female character from a female perspective. In this book it was a male character who the story centred around and I found this a little strange but intriguing. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it but i realised i was hooked when my boss asked me if i was planning to do any work that day - i'd overshot my lunch by a good 20 minutes and hadn't even noticed. I don't want to give any of the story away but suffice to say there was a few funny moments and also a few tears shed by the end. What can i say - just buy it!
Christmas message November 25, 2008 What a lovely story with a thought- provoking ending................. another winner from the talented Ms Ahern !!!
Life, love and heartstrings November 19, 2008 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Having just seen parts of her father's biography on RTE (Ireland's National TV station) and it noting that he was quite the absent father, I have to wonder how much of this is wishful thinking on the part of Cecelia Ahern.
It's a story about a boy who throws a semi-frozen turkey through a window who gets told a story about another man. A workaholic who learns lessons about the important things in life and who realises that life is now not tomorrow.
I can see this one splitting it's audience. It's unsubtle in it's message and pretty obvious in it's heart-string tugging. A little too obvious for my tastes, I'm sure other people's mileage may vary.
The packagaing is cute, the ribbon isn't a permanent part of the cover though and as it's usually shrink wrapped the lack of cover details makes it hard to decide what it's all about.
