I read this book and felt no sympathy for Jasvinder Sanghera at all.
Up until the arranged marriage, she had a decent childhood. She has no morals and repaid Jassey after he saved her by having an affair, saying 'he made if easy for me by trusting me completely'!!!
Then she uses others and is happy to have them sleeping on the floor whilst she uses their bed.
Also, she got grants and funding to see her way through University.
She feels sorry for herself consistently throughout the book and I was bored.
I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Shame was the first book I read on arranged marriages, I took to it straight away. Well written and very interesting,so much so that its now got a place in my book case for reading again in the future,a book that I dont want to part with, also its special because my home town was Derby. I hope other people enjoy it as much as I did. I hope to read Daughters of Shame sometime,I hope its as good as Jasvinders first book.

Information written as a novel which gives a clearer understanding of what many don't realize is happening in their own society. Alarming in parts but honest and an awakening for those dealing with other cultures.

This book was more about the authors success in like in a boasting fashion.
so it digressed from what the book should be about im sure there is other ways of projecting personal success the local media is one way.

I read Shame on the recomendation of a friend and let me tell you i was not disapointed.... I could not put the book down, its absoulutely brilliant.The determination of jasvinder is unbeliveable...she deserves to be where she is today...I have so much admiration for her and have even had the honour of attending a conference in Barnsley where she was a guest speaker.The majority of the audience were hanging onto her every word, the sceptical were put in their place!!!!! and believe me,they deserved it. She is such an inspiration and has so much passion & determination for her cause.... I salute her and what she stands for. Go Girl xx
