The long wait for a Clare anthology has been worth it. December 7, 2000

Clare in the Community appears, or rather is buried in the Society section of the UK Guardian newspaper every week. It has a hard-core cult following of social workers (like Clare herself) and other left-leaning believers. Those who have not been cutting out and collecting the strip will be overjoyed to re-read nearly four years of her exploits. The non-election of Portillo: "OK, one more time but I don't want to wear out the tape" is one of the many Clare moments that are great to re-visit or read for the first time.
