Wonderfully candid July 27, 2010 J. Bayliss (Tuscany, Italy) I really enjoyed this book. I was a sixties teenager, an avid Beatles fan and it was a fab time to be young. A few questions were answered about what happened to split the Beatles up, which was a bit fuzzy at the time. We were all so innocent in those days and didn't realise the dangers of booze and drugs. Some might say that Pattie Boyd was a lucky girl, in the right place at the right time but in some ways it is also very sad.Wonderful Today: The Autobiography of Pattie Boyd
RUBBISH July 26, 2010 Dostoyevsky (Muswell Hill)
Not the sort of book i usually read but she has interested me and i wanted to know about her. What a let down. She seems superficial, self pitying and quite low in brain cells ant totally in love with herself. The incessent name dropping must have accounted for a quarter of the book. YUCK!
WAG 1 December 3, 2009 Ian Millard I suppose that, these days, this lady would be a WAG. The subtitle says it: George Harrison, Eric Clapton and me. She was married to Harrison before taking up with Clapton. To think this book very interesting, you would have to be a lot more interested in the pop/rock musicians of 1960-2000 than I am. The lady herself has had a rough time in part and has come through it well. Do not expect any startling (or, indeed, any) social or political insights (her big hero is, apparently...yawn...Nelson Mandela...) but she seems well-intentioned and pleasant on the face of it. And she is a cat lover.
One aspect which made me laugh is her saying how the Beatles, notably Harrison, were still really a product of and behaviour-determined by their modest upbringings: it took them time to think in terms of "getting it together in the country" in country houses rather than suburban bungalows, though the country house plus rock star is now a cliche. They started it. The same applies to the authoress who, while of modest origins herself, soon grows to think it normal to order up a private helicopter because she has left some clothing at home!
Not a bad read but also not a book I shall ever need to disturb for a second time.
Best love triangle story! October 9, 2009 Maz (Kent, England) What a great book, I read it in 3 days. I would highly recommend reading. It has some sad and funny bits in it and I think Pattie Boyd is great and although her mad life has had many ups and downs she seems to have kept her feet firmly on the ground. I know that Olivia Harrison seems a really lovely person but throughout the book I couldn't help but want Pattie to get back with George as they seemed so perfect for each other. A film has to be made about this!
pattie boyd August 29, 2009 Mrs. Margaret E. Miles great book great price. if you are a beatles fan and want an insight into their world during the sixties then this is an enlightening read.
