I really enjoyed this audio-book, which includes theories which will be familiar to those who have read other Deepak Chopra titles, but which also goes on to provide much more, in practical terms, about how to reach a higher level of awareness. Including a brief recap of Chopra's philosophy on the mind-body connection and the role of modern physics in the unravelling of spiritual/scientific dilemmas, 'The Higher Self' goes on to guide you through ways to let go of judgemental habits and fears. Chopra uses a good mix of scientific information and spiritual truth to bring forth a better understanding of how to let the body/mind heal itself and stay in balance. He shows the limitations of a purely physical model for the body, in particular, the workings of the immune system, and demonstrates practical ways to change your awareness and thinking in order to allow you to reach your highest physical, mental and spiritual potential. I was given the book for a birthday present and have been using it for the last six months. I have gained an overall improved centred awareness. The author's calming tones and beautifully written words bring a return to harmony and well-being whenever I listen.
